Organization Overview

Now in our 20th year and recognized as one of Maine?s premier cultural events, the Maine Jewish Film Festival began modestly in 1998 in a South Portland community hall with six videos shown on a television set. Since then we have presented over 375 films both domestic and foreign, hosted more than 125 guest speakers from the U.S. and around the world and sold over 37,000 tickets at cinema venues throughout the state. Maine is one of the smallest states in the nation to boast an independent, professional Jewish film festival. We present an inventively curated, diverse and sophisticated program of documentary, fiction and short films that explore the global Jewish experience.
