Maine Huts & Trails

Maine Huts & Trails is building the physical and symbolic pathways that open the outdoors to everyone—maintaining free, year-round trails; investing in and caring for four backcountry huts; and ensuring safe, inclusive, and welcoming infrastructure for users of varied experience levels and abilities. We create shared spaces where curiosity is nurtured and connections are born. We endeavor to reduce cost barriers to immersive group experiences, and curate and host community events that bring people together in the backcountry. We are focused on delivering enduring, mission-driven work that fosters a healthier, more connected region. Through sustaining partnerships with volunteers, donors, and local organizations we cultivate a culture of shared stewardship—caring not only for our trails and huts, but for the people and communities that depend on a robust outdoor recreation economy.
