Building Financial Resilience: Key Metrics for Nonprofit Sustainability

Wednesday, December 16, 2026
11:00 AM - 1:00 PM (EST)

Event Details

This event is offered in partnership with the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (MCN).

As funding volatility, leadership transitions, and rising demand reshape the nonprofit landscape, leaders need stronger financial foundations to sustain their missions and respond to change with confidence.

This session equips executive directors, senior staff, and board members with practical frameworks for understanding and strengthening organizational financial health. Designed for participants with varying financial backgrounds, the program blends core concepts with real-world nonprofit examples.

Through guided discussion and applied scenarios, participants will explore the financial statements, metrics, and benchmarks that reveal the story behind the numbers, and learn how to translate insights into action.

Attendees will gain:

  • the ability to monitor and interpret key financial metrics,
  • a framework to assess, address, and act on financial insights,
  • skills to identify early warning signs of financial stress, and
  • an understanding of how policies and systems support resilient leadership.

The session also highlights the institutional guardrails (board-approved policies, reserve strategies, and oversight structures) that protect long-term stability and mission impact.
