Organization Overview

Our mission: nurturing the life of the mind by encouraging the community to enter, read, look, listen, and learn. In pursuit of this mission, goals for the Rangeley Public Library are to serve as a popular materials library, a child's door to learning, an education support center, and a life-long learning center. Popular Materials Library: The Library features current, high-demand, high interest materials in a variety of formats for persons of all ages. The Library actively promotes and encourages the use of its collection. Child's Door to Learning: The Library encourages young children to develop an interest in reading and learning through services for children and for parents and children together. Parents and other adult caregivers can locate materials on reading readiness, parenting, child care, and child development. Cooperation with child care agencies in the community is ongoing. Education Support Center: The Library assists all ages in meeting educational objectives established during their formal courses of study. This may include assistance to students in elementary and secondary schools, colleges, community colleges, universities, or technical schools, as well as those involved in training programs, literacy or adult basic education, and continuing education courses. Life-long Learning Center: The Library encourages informal lifelong learning through a variety of tools and programs. The Library provides a connection, through technology, to world wide resources, and offers enrichment through programs, e.g., book discussion groups and computer training.
