Organization Overview
We safeguard children’s and families’ health by addressing the pervasive harm of toxic chemicals, including per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and plastics, in communities across Maine and nationwide. Exposure to these chemicals disproportionately harms young children and people who are trying to grow their families, increasing infertility, pregnancy loss, and pregnancy complications that can result in long-term health challenges for new parents and their children and cause developmental harm, especially during the first thousand days of a child’s life. Through grassroots advocacy, research and testing, and corporate and governmental policy work, we improve health by eliminating toxic exposures at their source. For the past two decades, we've empowered a grassroots movement and won major victories to protect environmental public health.
