Organization Overview
1. Introduction: Established in 1975, the Chebeague Transportation Company has been a lifeline service for Chebeague Island, the largest unbridged island in Casco Bay.
2. Mission Statement: Our mission is to provide safe and reliable transportation to and from Chebeague Island.
3. History and Growth: Commencing operations on a converted wooden lobster boat, our fleet has expanded to include two steel passenger ferries, a steel tug and barge for car and heavy equipment transport, two parking lots, and three buses.
4. Non-Profit Status: In 2014, we transitioned to a 501c3 non-profit organization, solidifying our commitment to community service.
5. Passenger and Vehicle Movement: Annually, we serve around 140,000 passengers on our ferries, approximately 40,000 passengers on our buses, and facilitate the movement of around 1,200 vehicles.
