The Penobscot River Restoration Trust is a non-profit organization established for the purpose of implementing the core aspects of the Penobscot River Restoration Project in order to restore and preserve the natural qualities of Maine's Penobscot River and its tributaries. The Penobscot River Restoration Project is an unprecedented collaboration between hydropower company PPL Corporation, the Penobscot Indian Nation, seven conservation groups, and state and federal agencies, to restore access to nearly 1000 miles of historic river habitat for native sea-run fish, while maintaining hydropower generation. The Members of the Penobscot Trust are: American Rivers, Atlantic Salmon Federation, Maine Audubon, Natural Resources Council of Maine, Penobscot Indian Nation, The Nature Conservancy, and Trout Unlimited.
