Board Handbooks

Few volunteer opportunities can be as rewarding and challenging as service on a nonprofit board. Community members are asked to give their time, expertise and money; they are asked to bear legal and financial risk; and, sometimes, they are asked to bear public scrutiny for the actions of the organization. At the same time, board service provides community members with the opportunity to support a mission which they care deeply about and to engage in meaningful work on behalf of the organization they have chosen to serve.

To help nonprofit boards build strong, effective, legally compliant teams, MANP has developed handbooks and toolkits with practical advice and exercises.

In addition to the broad range of free resources about board governance and recruitment practices in our Answer Center, the publications below are an essential resource for any nonprofit governance team.
