Nonprofit Member Dues + FAQs

We aim to make dues accessible by offering a sliding scale based on your organization’s annual operating expenses. MANP works to ensure all nonprofits like yours – big and small, urban and rural, spanning all mission areas – have an enabling public policy environment and the tools, connections, and information you need to thrive. Your membership dues make this vital work on behalf of the sector possible.


Who is eligible for Nonprofit Membership?
MANP membership is open to all 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) nonprofits and foundations. Organizations that have incorporated and are in the process of applying for one of these types of tax exemptions or have a fiscal sponsor are also eligible for nonprofit membership. Other types of nonprofits, such as 501(c) 6s, can join as a Friend of MANP.

How much does Nonprofit Membership cost?
Dues are on a sliding scale based on the annual expense line of your organization’s operating budget. If you are unsure of your annual expenses, use “Total Expenses” on page 1 of your latest Form 990 or Form 990-PF. We are committed to building a vibrant network that spans budget sizes, regions and mission areas. Annual dues are on a sliding scale based on your organization’s operating budget. My organization is facing financial challenges this year. Do you offer flexibility on dues?
Yes. Our top priority is ensuring you have access to MANP’s resources and support, and we are committed to working with you to find a manageable dues amount. Please reach out at membersupport@nonprofitmaine.org or call us at (207) 871-1885 to discuss options.

When does my membership start and end?
Your MANP membership will run from the first of the month during which you join, and will be due for renewal as of the last day of the preceding month in the following year. (Example: if you join on January 16, 2021 your membership will run from 1/1/21 – 12/31/21.)

Who has access to member benefits through our membership?
Membership benefits extend to all staff, staff and board members of your organization.

What membership options are available to foundations?
Foundations may select dues based on their annual operating expenses but are encouraged to provide operating support at a leadership level by choosing one of these foundation support levels below instead. (See your peers!)
