New Web Site Makes Lobbying Efforts in Maine More Public

by Brenda Peluso

In an effort to increase Government transparency, the Maine Ethics Commission has launched a new website aimed at keeping an eye on lobbying. The website is set up as a search engine that allows you to search by the lobbyist, the client, or the bill lobbied. The information on the site dates back to 2004 and is navigable in a myriad of different ways.

Politiker Maine has set up a how-to guide of the website online.

Lobbying is not necessarily a dirty word. Legislators value input from ethical and educated lobbyists. This site can help you understand who is attempting to influence and educate your representatives and might encourage you to get involved.
