Nonprofit boards need to strengthen their skills and enhance board engagement and leadership to adapt to increasing demands in today’s rapidly changing environment. Developed by the Maine Association of Nonprofits (MANP), this event has been designed to provide nonprofit board members with practical information, resources, tools and practices that can help the nonprofits they serve accomplish their mission-related goals more effectively.

This program assists Maine nonprofit boards of directors in managing a transition process and preparing for a new Executive Director. The training is based on a proven national leadership transition model, called ETM, developed by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and CompassPoint Nonprofit Services.

MANP has developed two handbooks to assist nonprofit leaders in enhancing their knowledge about the roles of board members and to provide guidance and advice to take board recruitment efforts to the next level. The two publications are written for both new board members and for those who have served on boards for some time, and are designed as roadmaps to help nonprofit leaders better understand the basic responsibilities of nonprofit board service and the critical elements necessary for an effective board recruitment process.
