A Day of HR Trainings

by Annie Sutton

A Day of Human Resources

Join MANP at the Falmouth Public Library on Wednesday, October 19th for a day of human resource skill-building. Attend one morning session and one afternoon session and receive a discount on your registration fee*:

Morning SkillBuilders (9:00 am – Noon)

Performance Management: Tips and Pitfalls

While many nonprofit managers excel at the program side of their work, fewer feel as confident when it comes time to evaluate their staff. This confidence-building training looks at the key components of performance management and focuses on an effective way to provide feedback—even if the other person is resistant to hearing your message.

HR Fundamentals

What is Human Resources anyway? For the non-HR professional often times the biggest issue is not knowing what you don’t know. This session will walk you through the basics and present tools for establishing and maintaining an effective HR function

Afternoon SkillBuilders (1:00 pm- 4:00 pm)

Hire the Best: An Analytical Approach to Interviewing

In a poor economy, your nonprofit may be receiving more applications for every job you have open. But how do you figure who the best candidate is? Go beyond gut instinct and use a more analytical approach. (If you’re just relying on your gut, then you’re using the wrong part of your body, since your brain can do a better job!) This training will show you how to clarify your needs and priorities before you’ve even looked at a single resume. Then we’ll help you come up with meaningful interview questions that will help lead you to the best person for the job.

HR Risk Management

Risk management deals with the possibility that some event may cause harm. It is especially important for nonprofits to have human resources risk management practices in place in order to avoid an incident which could lead to difficulties in finding support, volunteers and/or clients. We will address developing consistency in employment human resource practices, including fully training and evaluating your staff and volunteers.

*All SkillBuilders are $50 each for members or $100 each for non-members. If you choose a morning session and an afternoon session members pay only $80 for the day and non-members pay $160.
