Privacy Policy

The Maine Association of Nonprofits (MANP) places a high priority on protecting your privacy. This privacy policy was created to demonstrate MANP’s firm commitment to the privacy of our members and website users. This policy explains what types of information are collected by the MANP website,, and how this information is used. This policy does not apply to information collected offline by MANP. Your use of the MANP website indicates your consent to this policy and you must discontinue your use of the MANP website if you do not consent to this policy.

What Personally Identifiable Information is Collected

We collect information online from MANP members that create an account through (or the sub site, from individuals who sign up to receive MANP’s e-communications, and from users who choose to voluntarily complete web forms on MANP’s site. This information includes items such as name, email address, your organization’s name, mailing address, and telephone number.  We may use this information for specific, limited purposes outlined below. You may “opt out” at any time if you do not wish to receive our email messages.

MANP’s website content is not aimed at users under age 13 years old and MANP does not knowingly collect any personal information of any child under age 13. 

IP Addresses and Log Files

MANP uses log files to log visitors as they visit MANP’s website. This is common for web hosting companies and creates analytics on how website users utilize MANP’s website. Log files collect information such as internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. MANP may use this information to analyze trends, administer the website, to track users’ movement across and the website, and to gather geographic/demographic information. .

Cookies and use “cookie” messages to automatically help provide better services. Cookies remind us who you are and your preferences for our website based on what you’ve done and told us before. The “cookie” is placed in your computer and is read when you come back to our website. Cookies let us take you to the information and features you’re particularly interested in. They also let us track your usage of, so we know which parts of our sites are most popular. You can reject cookies or cancel them by instructing your Web browser accordingly, but please note that some pages of our website hosted on will not function properly if cookies are not enabled.

How Your Information May Be Used

We use your personal information to provide you with personalized service; to send email alerts to you; to answer your requests; to process orders, registrations and membership applications; etc. You may choose to opt out at any time by contacting us at, which will cease all communications from us other than confirmations of any orders processed and personal correspondence in response to your inquiries. We may also use your information to track visitors of our website. This lets us see which of our features are the most popular so we can better serve our users’ needs. It also lets us provide aggregate data about our traffic (not identifying you personally, but showing how many visitors used which features, for example) to outside parties. We do not share your personal data with third parties.

MANP does not sell or rent email addresses to anyone outside the organization.

MANP takes security measures to help protect your personal data from loss, theft, and unauthorized access or disclosure. Our security standards and procedures to protect your data include (but are not limited to) data encryption (SSL), firewalls, and server and website authentication.

We restrict access to your personal information to those who need to know that information to service your account or perform their job functions, including staff and third parties we hire to provide support services. These parties are required to follow our privacy standards and allow us to monitor them for compliance. Although we take these precautions to protect your information, no system is completely secure. Any transmission of your personal data is at your own risk, and we expect that you will use appropriate measures to maintain the security of your personal information.
