Immigrant Legal
Advocacy Project
The Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP) seeks to advocate
for and to improve the status and well-being of Maine 's low-income
immigrants and their families by providing affordable legal
services, and by educating and working with service providers,
policy makers, and the public concerning legal issues unique
to immigrants. Annually, ILAP assists between 1500-2000
low-income immigrants originating from over 100 different countries
in their efforts to stabilize or upgrade their immigration status
so that they can improve their lives and those of their families
and contribute meaningfully to the economic, political, social,
and cultural life of Maine.

remain in the U.S. due to a natural disaster or political
strife in her home country.
- $1500 will help a non-citizen domestic violence victim and
her children to gain residency so that they can live independently
and safe from abuse.

The Joseph Foundation
The Joseph Foundation's mission is to raise public
awareness about cardiac risk in young athletes and to work toward
improved standards for student athletic safety. We carryout
our mission by: 1) increasing awareness of cardiac risk in youth,
and its prevention and treatment, 2) initiating AED programs
in all schools and at all athletic events, 3) improving school
emergency response plans consistent with the recommendations
of the NATA, 4) encouraging use of comprehensive athletic pre-participation
evaluation forms, 5) and implementing cardiac screening programs
for student athletes.
Products:
- We are taking donations toward Automated External
Defibrillators (AEDs). Have you known someone with heart
failure, or one who has died from cardiac arrest?
Or someone who was saved by CPR and an AED? AEDs are
used on a victim of cardiac arrest to restore heart
rhythm. They are portable and recommended by the National
Athletic Trainers Association. For every minute that
passes before defibrillation, chances of survival decrease
by 10%. Make AEDs available where people gather, including
in schools, at athletic events, and auditoriums.
|
|
You can help purchase an AED, or make a donation of the fulll
cost of an AED for schools, churches, or athletic organizations.
The donor can name the preferred recipient organization, and
can also make the the donation in a loved one's
name. Suggested donations, $100, $500, or full price of an AED,
$1500.

To donate money toward an AED, contact the Joseph Foundation
by email: mail@safeathletes.org

Maine Women's
Policy Center
The Maine Women's Policy Center was founded in
1990 to improve the economic, social, and political status of
women and girls in Maine through public policy and leadership
development. We hold four main areas to be the
focus of our goals: economic security, civil rights, freedom
from violence, and secure health care and reproductive rights.
The Maine Women's Policy Center is committed to systemic change.
For seventeen years we have organized, trained, and supported
women to effectively participate in the policy-making process.
We have consistently backed up women's real life experiences
with research and facts, and partnered with our sister organization,
the Maine Women's Lobby, to amplify their concerns in the legislature
and develop policy solutions that address their needs. We especially
seek to serve those women who are underrepresented in the formation
of public policy - particularly rural women and women with low
incomes.

You can make a tax-deductible donation in a loved
one's name. We will send you a donation certificate
to give them or we're happy to send it directly if
