Testimonials

Individual Coaching

Early in 2007 I hired Louise Cyr as my coach and in the course of 5 or 6 telephone coaching sessions, Louise's coaching served as a catalyst for me in reaching a new level of effectiveness in both my life and in my work. Many months later I'm still building on the work of personal transformation that I started with Louise.
-Ron Turcotte, Organization Development Specialist, MaineGeneral Health

In 2002, I hired Nancy Lubin to coach me through the transition into my first job at the head of an organization. As incoming President and CEO of the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, I knew I would need to be well organized, goal oriented, and open to learning. Nancy helped me understand how to leverage my strengths and be aware of areas where I would need new skills. She introduced me to very effective tools for managing my time and priorities. Being able to check in regularly with Nancy was a great help in keeping me focused and accountable in my first months in the job. Nancy's coaching made me more confident, more capable, and ultimately, more successful in my challenging new role. As I face new challenges and opportunities, I know I can call on Nancy any time to help me rise to the occasion. -Oliver Wilder, President and CEO, CMCA

Organizational Coaching Program

“This is in appreciation of the great work done by Nancy Lubin and Louise Franck Cyr for MaineGeneral Health. They have, together, designed and presented a two day Dynamic Edge Coaching class that has been offered multiple times at MGH, each time to an increasing demand. The evaluations consistently say that people got much more out of the training than they ever expected. People talk about it to their peers long after the class has ended.

One of the many reasons we brought coaching into the organization was to try to become an “Employer of Choice”. This month MaineGeneral Health was named one of the “Best Employers in Maine”. Another reason was to try to help managers, directors, and VPs to engage their staff more fully in decisions that affect them. Our 2003 Employee Satisfaction Survey rated us on this question at a 3.36 (out of 5), in 2005 it was 3.32 and in 2006 we were up to 3.52, a significant increase. To the question “MGH is a patient focused healthcare system,” we went from a 4.05 in 2003 to a 4.24 in 2006, again a significant increase. It is my belief that much of these improvement relate back to a new way of communicating and part of that communication is associated with our efforts around creating a “coaching” culture.

After every class, I hear stories of people taking these skills back into the workplace and getting results - meaning bottom line better patient care because:

  • better communication up and down the hierarchy of supervision
  • more buy-in to the creative problem solving process and better skills to follow through
  • reduced stress at work because these are life skills which empower the individual to take personal responsibility for better outcomes for all.”
