Formed in 1990, the Alex Tanous Foundation seeks to
conduct rigorous scientific research in areas related to physical
and spiritual development, including, but not limited to, the
development of creativity, creativity and healing, and the teaching
of creativity. The foundation serves as a forum for the presentation

Friends of Seguin
Island
Our mission is to preserve the Seguin Island Light
Station, commissioned by George Washington in 1795 and the second
oldest in Maine . 64 acre Seguin Island is located 2 ½
miles from the mouth of the Kennebec River . Preservation efforts
focus on six historic structures, including the only operating
tramway in Maine . Seguin 's light is the highest in Maine beaming
out at 144' above sea level. The light, an 1857 First Order
Fresnel lens is the only original continuously operating north
of Virginia . The lens is currently being restored by the US
Coast Guard, which operates the light.

Herring Gut Learning Center
Herring Gut Learning Center is a non-profit marine education and resource center located in the small fishing village of Port Clyde, Maine. Born to Read, the Maine Humanities Council's early literacy
program, serves all 16 Maine counties. Over 200 volunteers provide
