
Founded in 1960, Spurwink began with a residential program
for adolescent boys on Riverside Street in Portland. Over time,
the agency rose to meet the needs of the people of Maine by
developing a wide array of community-based mental and behavioral
health services for children, adults and families.
Today, Spurwink is a premiere treatment facility that has gained
the respect and admiration of state leaders, mental health providers
and communities and families throughout Maine . Agency services
extend from Kittery to Skowhegan and are focused on three major
areas:

Spurwink is a critical component of Maine's health care system,
employing 850 staff and serving over 4,500 individuals each
year who face emotional, behavioral and developmental challenges.
Through a network of caring professionals, Spurwink continues
to help Maine children and adults lead healthy and productive
lives.
