Making our natural resources a political
priority.
Our environment is critical to our good health.
Here in Maine, it provides our livelihood, our recreation,
our sense of who we are. Ours is a uniquely beautiful state,
defined by its natural features: the vast north woods, remote
ponds and lakes, rugged coast and coastal islands. Maine
people love and want to protect our clean air, clean water,
and unspoiled wilderness.
We must make environmental protection as important
to our elected officials as it is to Maine people. The Maine
League of Conservation Voters is an independent,
non-partisan organization that works to make natural resources
protection a political priority for Maine voters, candidates
and elected officials.
The League coordinates the
advocacy efforts of the Maine environmental community and
annually publishes the Environmental Scorecard,
which tracks the voting record of each legislator. The League
also endorses strong environmental leaders who
will protect our health, open spaces, and quality of life.
Past scorecards and further information about the League
are available at its website, www.mlcv.org
