Our Mission: Our Family Focused programs encourage and foster the development and healing of children with emotional and behavioral challenges.

In 1992, a group of social workers and foster parents had a vision of creating an agency that focused on the unique needs of children recovering from trauma. They knew that a nurturing family that celebrated talents, built upon strengths and restored trust was the best environment for growth and healing. Based on their shared vision, compassion, and expertise, Families And Children Together (FACT) was created in 1993. During our first year in operation, the sole program was treatment foster care. However, FACT has steadily grown and we now provide an array of quality programs that focus on expanding, strengthening, and preserving the family. Our programs include Treatment Foster Care, Maine Kids~Kin (a program for grandparents, aunts and uncles stepping in to care for their relatives' children), Supervised Visitation and Parenting Education (for families who have been disrupted by trauma and are working to reunify), Adoption Home-Studies and Group Care (for females between the ages of 16-19). Our main office is located in Bangor and serves Penobscot, Piscataquis, Waldo and Hancock Counties. Our satellite office in Westbrook offers Supervised Visits, Parenting Education and Maine Kin-Kids services. We pride ourselves on the integrity, responsiveness, and effectiveness of our services to families and children.
